How I started and now:
I started as a Cadet with the
Ceylon Shipping Corporation
in 1977; got my command in 1988. Sailed as Master until 1992 and joined
Intermarc Services as a surveyor.
I worked as a consultant marine surveyor for fifteen years and lectured at the
University of Moratuwa for 7 years in the meanwhile.
I completed Chartered Shipbrokers' exams in 1995 and won the
Taylor & Francis Award
for the highest marks worldwide in Economics of Sea Transport &
International Trade.
I received my Fellowship (FICS) in 1998.
I completed the BVQI Lead Auditor programme in 1999 and am also a Member of the
Chartered Institute of Transport & Logistics (UK)
